UNIFIL on the situation in southern Lebanon: We warn of a miscalculation that could lead to imminent danger

UNIFIL spokesman Andrea Tenenti confirmed in statements about the situation in southern Lebanon that the escalation is continuing in the south, and the destruction is spreading on both sides, warning of the risk of a miscalculation.

UNIFIL spokesman Andrea Tenenti explained that "the escalation continues in the south, the exchange of fire has not stopped, people are being killed, and the destruction is spreading on both sides."

He added: "We warn of the danger of a miscalculation occurring, which would put us in imminent danger, and there is still room for a political solution between Lebanon and Israel."

He stressed that "the situation along the Blue Line is worrying."

The Israeli army announced on Thursday that its air defenses intercepted two drones launched from Lebanon, one of which was off the coast of Nahariya, while it reported that its warplanes targeted Hezbollah infrastructure yesterday.

Lebanese media reported that Israeli artillery shelling targeted the town of Kfar Shouba to prevent civil defense teams from extinguishing the fire that was sparked by the shelling at dawn.

The Lebanese Hezbollah also announced on Wednesday night that it had fired anti-aircraft missiles at Israeli warplanes in the airspace of southern Lebanon, forcing them to retreat and withdraw behind the border.

The border between Lebanon and Israel is still witnessing ongoing tension and exchange of shelling, amid international and UN efforts to contain the conflict for fear of its expansion into a comprehensive war.
