Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump described being shot during an assassination attempt last Saturday as being bitten by "the world's biggest mosquito."
"It looked like a bite from the world's biggest mosquito," Trump said during a phone call with US presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. "It was an AR-15 bullet, a very big, very powerful weapon."
In a video that leaked online, Kennedy Jr. listens to Trump put his phone on speakerphone. He himself apologized for the leak, saying he was recording the material with a cameraman when the former president called. Kennedy Jr. said on the social media platform "X" that he was "upset by the leak" and noted that he apologized to Donald Trump.

The accident resulted in the death of one person and the injury of others, in addition to a minor injury to Trump, who was transferred to the hospital as a result.
The US Secret Service said it killed the shooter, while the FBI identified the Trump shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
