Late Tuesday evening, the Israeli occupation army stormed the city of Tulkarm in the northern West Bank for the second time in two days, besieging a house there and using a young man it had arrested from the city as a “human shield” after pinning him to the front of its vehicle.
The Palestinian state television said that the occupation army "stormed Tulkarm from its southwestern axis, and surrounded a house." It pointed out that "gunfire was fired in the vicinity of the besieged house in the Jarad Estate in Tulkarm," noting that the army targeted "the besieged house with a suicide drone."
A photo circulating on social media showed the occupation army arresting a Palestinian and placing him on the front of a military vehicle, using him as a human shield. The photo brings to mind a similar incident when social media was abuzz with the scene of a wounded Palestinian who was used as a human shield by the army by placing him on the front of its vehicle during the raid on Tulkarm on June 22.
On Tuesday afternoon, the occupation army withdrew from Tulkarm camp after a large-scale raid that lasted for about 16 hours and resulted in 5 Palestinian martyrs, 3 of whom were leaders in the "Al-Qassam" and "Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades", in addition to extensive destruction. A child from the town of Bal'a, east of Tulkarm, was also martyred on Tuesday evening, succumbing to his critical injury by Israeli occupation bullets about two weeks ago, bringing the number of martyrs in Tulkarm Governorate to six.
In a related context, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), announced that its fighters ambushed an Israeli force in the city of Jenin in the West Bank, the day after three of its leaders were martyred in the city of Tulkarm. It explained that its fighters set up a triple ambush for an Israeli force near the village of Al-Matla, adjacent to the city of Jenin, which resulted in the injury of two soldiers and an officer, confirming that its fighters withdrew safely.
For his part, the Palestinian Red Crescent announced at dawn on Wednesday that a Palestinian boy was injured by Israeli occupation army bullets in Qalandia camp located between the cities of Ramallah and Jerusalem in the West Bank, while Palestinian media reported the outbreak of strong clashes between citizens and the occupation forces storming the camp, which surrounded the house of the martyr Muhammad Manasra inside the camp and demolished it.
The army carried out a series of raids in several areas and towns in the governorates of Jenin, Nablus and Ramallah, during which clashes took place between residents and army forces, according to the Palestinian News Agency "Wafa", which indicated that the army stormed homes and began searching them.
Settler attacks in Huwara
On the other hand, in the town of Huwara, south of Nablus (north), the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a brief statement that its ambulance crews "dealt with two injuries in settler attacks in the town." According to "Wafa," "clashes erupted in the center of the town of Huwara after settlers attacked citizens, vehicles and shops, which led to the shattering of windows in a number of them."
The agency added: "A number of settlers from the Yitzhar settlement, built on citizens' lands south of Nablus, set fire to agricultural lands south of Burin village, which led to the burning of dozens of olive trees."
