The Egyptian army unveils the first unmanned marine vehicle and Israel is waiting

The Alexandria Shipyard (North Egypt), affiliated with the Egyptian Army’s Maritime Industries and Services Authority, has produced the first unmanned sea vehicle (USV) named “Ocean Aurora.”

The Israeli media highlighted the new Egyptian invention, which it described as highly advanced. The Israeli news website nziv said that the vehicle announced by Egypt belongs to the category of self-propelled floating vehicles (RSV), and was designed by MCS, a company specializing in deep-water system solutions.

The Israeli website pointed out that what distinguishes "Ocean Aurora" is its ability to operate independently underwater without the need for human presence, and that the marine vehicle is equipped with the latest scanning and sensing devices, and can be fully controlled from the ground.

According to nziv, the vehicle is used for purposes such as geological and geophysical surveys, and can also launch small units of floating vehicles (ROV) and be operated remotely to inspect pipelines, submarine cables and metal structures.

The Ocean Aurora is also characterized by its ability to withstand the conditions of floating in the seas, as it can operate continuously for up to 30 days in bad sea conditions, and its operating speed reaches 10 knots, and these characteristics make it a powerful tool for underwater surveying and research.
The Israeli website report said that this invention reflects Egypt's development in the field of shipbuilding in the past ten years, and also shows the modernization and development witnessed by shipbuilding and repair companies, which led to the conclusion of quality contracts with famous international companies in the field of shipbuilding, such as the French Navy Group, the German company "Thyssenkrupp", the Italian company Lürssen and Fincantieri, and the American shipping company Swift.

Israeli media outlets have highlighted the Egyptian army's recent announcement that it possesses a highly advanced system to intercept drones.

Nziv said in a report published last week that video footage showed a new version of a high-intensity electromagnetic pulse generation system designed to counter drones.

He pointed out that at EDEX 2023 last year, the Egyptian army unveiled the new high-energy electromagnetic pulse system EDE-100A, an innovation of the Egyptian Ministry of Military Production.

This system is designed to serve as the last line of defense against new aerial threats, especially small drones operating in swarms, making it essential for protecting important targets.
