Craving for sweets after eating and eating large amounts of them against the background of negative feelings and the inability to stop, indicates sugar addiction.
“There are some symptoms that indicate that a person is addicted to sugar. First, there is a desire to eat something sweet after eating, a feeling of fullness. Second, a person should pay attention to his eating behavior against the background of negative emotions (eating a lot of sweets at this moment is an alarm bell). In addition, he should pay attention to the feeling of irritation and inability to stop when he wants to eat something sweet after eating,” Kamelia Tabieva, a specialist in preventive and anti-aging medicine, told Gazeta.Ru.
According to her, eating sweets stimulates the production of dopamine and opiates in the brain.
“Dopamine is responsible for creating feelings of attachment and ‘addiction.’ Opioids affect the production of neurotransmitters, which improves mood and causes a feeling of euphoria, so sweets become a savior for a person from many problems, which indicates that he has a sugar addiction,” she says.
