Second huge fire in Baghdad within hours

A major fire broke out in the Shorja area in central Baghdad, the second in 24 hours.

The Baghdad Operations Commander directed the dispatch of fire engines to control the fire and to use the water tankers of the Ministries of Interior and Defense.

It is noteworthy that this morning, Tuesday, a fire broke out inside warehouses in the Bab al-Sham commercial area north of the capital, Baghdad , according to a statement issued by the Baghdad Operations Command.

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced that more than 5,500 fires broke out during the first five months of this year across Iraq, noting that it recorded a decrease in fire statistics compared to last year 2023.

With the arrival of summer and the rise in temperatures, Iraq witnesses many fire incidents that break out in commercial and industrial places, in markets, and in official buildings and institutions. The material damage is estimated annually at millions of dollars in addition to the loss of life.
