Saudi Arabia: 155 employees in 7 ministries and government agencies arrested for corruption crimes

The Saudi Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) said that it conducted 924 inspection tours and 9,623 inspection tours in the holy sites and service agencies during the Hajj season during the month of June.

The authority added that it investigated 382 suspects, including employees from the ministries of interior, commerce, health, education, municipal and rural affairs and housing, transportation and logistics, culture, and the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority.

She confirmed that 155 suspects were arrested in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code, some of whom were released on bail.

She reported that the detainees were involved in charges of "bribery, abuse of office, money laundering and forgery."

Nazaha indicated that the legal procedures are being completed in preparation for referring them to justice.

The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority called for participation in reporting any suspicions of financial or administrative corruption.
