Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas resistance movement, announced today, Sunday, the recruitment of thousands of fighters during the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, and the rehabilitation of the movement's military capabilities.
Abu Obeida said in a videotaped speech: “Our fighters were able to rehabilitate some important capabilities, prepare traps and ambushes, manufacture explosive devices and shells, and recycle a large number of remnants, explosives, and missiles that the enemy dropped on our civilians at a very high density, unprecedented in the history of wars.”
He added: "We have strengthened our defensive capabilities to confront the occupation wherever it is on our land, and we still have a lot to say to the enemy," stressing that the 24 Qassam Brigades, along with the Palestinian resistance factions, fought for 9 months from the farthest part of Beit Hanoun in the north to the farthest part of Rafah in the south.
He pointed out that during the "past 9 months, since the start of the Battle of the Flood of Al-Aqsa, our people are still being subjected to Nazi-Zionist-American aggression and genocide, as punishment for their adherence to their land and holy sites and their exercise of their natural right, indeed their duty, to resist to regain their rights and expel their occupiers."
A steel generation packed with the will to resist.
Abu Obeida pointed out "what independent opinion polls reflect, which showed after long months of aggression how our people in Gaza and the West Bank overwhelmingly support Operation Flood of Al-Aqsa and rally around its resistance." He considered that the enemy's greatest strategic failure "it will realize after a while" is "the emergence of a steel generation filled with the will to resist, fight and confront it."
He added that the battle of Rafah, which has been ongoing for about two months, “and what our fighters have been writing for about two weeks in Shuja’iyya, and the battles that accompanied these operations in the north, center, and south of the Strip, are the greatest evidence of the strength and vigor of our resistance, and of the enemy’s failure and confusion.”
He stressed that the intelligence documents recently revealed by the enemy about the resounding failure on October 7, 2023, are a minor matter compared to what we will reveal in documents at the appropriate time, and will be harsher and more difficult, to show how we were able to carry out a complex strategic deception of the Shin Bet and the enemy’s security apparatus for years.
He pointed out that the ongoing escalation of resistance operations in the occupied West Bank "is a response and choice of our people in confronting the systematic genocide, Judaization and settlement carried out by the government of aggression and crime."
Abu Obeida also considered that "this response and these blessed and qualitative operations by all the resistance factions are the greatest message to this arrogant enemy and to the ministers of his Nazi government: The nightmare of the movement of the West Bank, Jerusalem, and the revolutionary cells from the land occupied in 1948 is coming inevitably, and in a way that the enemy does not expect."
It is signaling continued resilience.
