The Yemeni Houthi group published footage on Tuesday of the "Yaffa" drone, which it said had bombed an important target in Tel Aviv a few days ago, noting that it was a "long-range, multi-mission aircraft."
The specifications of the aircraft included that it "carries a highly explosive warhead, and has systems that hide from radars and air defenses," according to what the Yemeni group published. The video clip included the opening of a special exhibition for the "Yaffa" aircraft and some of its specifications, in addition to scenes from more than one angle of the drone being launched in the skies of the region.
Last Friday, the Houthi group announced that it had targeted Tel Aviv with a drone capable of evading radar. The attack resulted in the bombing of a building, killing one person and causing a number of injuries.
Yemeni media affiliated with the Houthis revealed that "the Jaffa drone was able to cross a distance of 2,300 kilometers to reach the heart of occupied Jaffa (Tel Aviv), thus bypassing many advanced (Israeli) air defense systems."
The Yemeni group said its drone attack on Tel Aviv was a "qualitative shift" in its operations against Israel, vowing to escalate its operations and strike "very sensitive" targets in Israel.
In "solidarity with Gaza," which is facing a devastating Israeli war with American support, the Houthis are targeting Israeli or Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean with missiles and drones.
Since January 12, 2024, a US-led coalition has been launching raids that it says target “Houthi sites” in various parts of Yemen in response to their naval attacks, which have been met with occasional retaliation from the group.
