Hundreds of Moroccans participated in a protest in the city of Meknes (north) on Saturday, to denounce Israel's targeting of the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, which is crowded with displaced people, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of them.
Participants in the vigil, which was called for by the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine (non-governmental), denounced the continued targeting of defenceless civilians.
They also carried Palestinian flags and banners reading: "Stop the genocide," "Stop the aggression on Gaza," and "Today is the same, tomorrow is the same, victory is inevitable."
During the protest, pictures were raised showing the extent of the destruction and killing in Gaza, and slogans were chanted, including: “Palestine is a trust, and normalization is treason,” “Gaza, Gaza is a symbol of pride,” and “No to normalization.”
The protesters denounced what they described as "the participation of Western countries in this war to continue supporting Tel Aviv and supplying it with weapons."
Almost daily since the outbreak of the war on Gaza, many Moroccan cities have witnessed mass popular protests in solidarity with the Palestinian people and their rights, especially ending the Israeli occupation and establishing a Palestinian state with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital.
Earlier on Saturday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the number of martyrs in the massacre committed by the Israeli occupation army in the Al-Mawasi area had risen to 90 Palestinians, and 300 others were injured.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with American support, leaving about 127,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children, while Tel Aviv continues the war, ignoring the two UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
