Health services in the state of Setif, eastern Algeria, reported that they had recorded 31 cases of food poisoning in the emergency room since last Saturday, while there is a serious case in intensive care.
The health services explained that "31 cases of food poisoning have been received at the emergency department, both at the university hospital and Kaaboub, since Saturday."
She added that "30 cases were taken care of and were discharged from the emergency room, with the exception of one child in critical condition who is currently in intensive care." Noting that "the cases came from the state capital, where they had eaten fast food at the same restaurant."
The health services confirmed that "field investigations revealed that food poisoning occurred after they ate meals in a restaurant in the Ain Mouss neighborhood in the state capital. They went directly to the scene and conducted investigations on samples of the food in the restaurant under inspection, awaiting the bacteriological results."
The health services called on parents to immediately take their children to the emergency room or to the multi-service clinics closest to their place of residence in the event of symptoms of food poisoning such as vomiting and diarrhea, to avoid dehydration.
