Today, Monday, the Israeli army released the director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiya, who has been detained since last November.
Dr. Abu Salamiya said in his first statement after his release, “The prison situation is tragic and very difficult, and old and new prisoners are going through the worst conditions since the Nakba of 1948 until now, as they suffer from a shortage of food and water and there is physical humiliation,” calling for a decisive word for the resistance. And the Arab peoples for the freedom of prisoners.”
Last November, Israeli forces arrested the director of Al-Shifa Medical Hospital, Dr. Abu Salamiya, and a number of doctors and nurses after a siege and bombing, followed by storming the hospital.
The Israeli army carried out several raids on Al-Shifa Medical Complex, which is the largest specialized hospital in the Gaza Strip, claiming the presence of gunmen and Hamas infrastructure inside the hospital.
The Israeli army's operations left hundreds dead and the hospital completely destroyed, putting it out of service.
The director of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza, Marwan Abu Saada, confirmed last April that “the hospital is out of service forever and cannot be restored, as all of its buildings are in danger of collapse.”
The war in the Gaza Strip entered its 269th day, amid concerns surrounding the condition of Palestinian prisoners, especially after the decision of the extremist Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, to reduce food allocations for prisoners, while yesterday he called for their execution by shooting.
