"Humanitarian Responsibility" Erdogan Consoles Bulgarian People Over Fires

Yesterday, Sunday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan published a message of condolence via the X platform to the Bulgarian people, against the backdrop of the fires that have hit Bulgaria, attaching to it a post by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, in which he thanked Turkey for its support for efforts to extinguish the fires in the Svilengrad region.

"Fighting forest fires is a humanitarian responsibility that falls on all of us, and Turkey will continue to stand in solidarity with its friends in difficult times," Erdogan said, conveying his wishes for the safety of the people of Bulgaria on behalf of himself and his people.

On July 17, Turkey sent a crew of 40, followed by a crew of 32 on July 18, with their heavy equipment, after a fire broke out in the Svilengrad region, 6 kilometers from the Turkish border, and spread within two days to reach Mladenovo and Mihalic in the south, devouring tens of thousands of hectares of forest and agricultural land.
