Houthi group claims responsibility for attack on Tel Aviv and threatens to target sensitive sites in Israel

The Yemeni Houthi group announced today, Friday, that it had launched a drone attack on an important target in Tel Aviv, confirming that it would continue targeting sites deep inside Israel, while the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation announced that one person was killed and 8 others were injured in the attack.

The group's military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said in a televised statement: "The Yemeni armed forces' drone air force carried out a qualitative military operation that involved targeting an important target in the occupied Jaffa area, what Israel calls Tel Aviv."

Saree pointed out that the operation was carried out "with a new drone called (Yaffa) that is capable of bypassing the enemy's interception systems and cannot be detected by radars, and the operation achieved its goals successfully."

He warned that "the Jaffa area is an unsafe area, and will be a primary target for our weapons, and we will focus on targeting the internal front of the Zionist enemy and reaching the depth."

He added: "The Yemeni armed forces, by announcing this qualitative operation, confirm that they have a bank of targets in occupied Palestine, including sensitive military and security targets." He stressed that they will continue to strike these targets in response to "the enemy's massacres and daily crimes against our brothers in the Gaza Strip."

Killed in Israel

Earlier today, the official Israeli Broadcasting Authority announced the explosion of a booby-trapped drone at the intersection of Shalom Aleichem and Ben Yehuda streets, hundreds of meters away from the US Embassy, without activating the sirens.

The authority added that 8 people who were slightly injured by shrapnel were evacuated to receive medical treatment, while the body of a man was found killed in a side street.

For his part, the spokesman for the Israeli occupation army, Avichay Adraee, said that after the initial examination it became clear that the explosion that occurred in the early morning hours in Tel Aviv was caused by the fall of an aerial target without activating an alarm, adding that the incident is "under deep investigation, and the air force has intensified its active air patrols, and there is no change in the instructions of the home front."

In the context, an Israeli military official said that the army does not rule out any possibility regarding the source of the drone that struck Tel Aviv, noting that the drone is of a larger type and has a longer range.

“We are talking about a large drone that can fly long distances,” the official told reporters after the attack. “We are not ruling out any possibility at this time,” he said.

In "solidarity with Gaza", which is facing a devastating Israeli war with American support, the Houthis are targeting Israeli targets and Israeli or Israeli-linked cargo ships in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean with missiles and drones.
