The New York Times reported on Friday evening that a group of donors will suspend about $90 million in donations if Joe Biden insists on running for the presidential elections.
There are growing doubts among Democratic donors, supporters and politicians who fear that President Joe Biden is no longer capable of defeating former President Donald Trump in the November 5 election or leading the country for another four-year term.
The newspaper explained that "a group of Democratic Party donors informed the political action committee supporting President Joe Biden that about $90 million in donations would remain suspended if he insisted on running for the presidential elections."
The leaks come after Biden made a number of slips of the tongue , while recent opinion polls have shown Biden's position in the race declining, and Democrats are beginning to believe that Biden cannot win the race, and that the impact of this may extend to the congressional races in the House of Representatives and the Senate, which may give Republicans complete control over the executive and legislative branches of the US government.
Joe Biden's top aides spent two hours meeting with Democratic senators, trying to allay concerns about his ability to run for a second term, amid worries about his mental health and his repeated gaffes.
According to American media, most of the council members who participated in the meeting remained silent about the results of the meeting, and some of them said that it was agreed not to say anything, considering that what happened was a "private discussion."
At least 17 Democratic members of Congress have so far called on Biden to withdraw and allow the party to choose another candidate , including politicians who announced their position after a press conference held Thursday evening, while Biden confirmed his determination to run and his readiness to undergo a new medical examination.
It's sad.
