Head of the National Relations Office in the Hamas Movement, Hussam Badran, stressed that the Beijing Declaration is an additional positive step towards achieving Palestinian national unity.
Badran expressed in a press statement on Tuesday his high appreciation for the great efforts made by China to reach this announcement, noting that "they are moving on this path for the first time with their weight and position, and this is something we as Palestinians need to confront the policy of exclusivity pursued by the United States of America regarding the Palestinian issue, and the American administration stands against any internal Palestinian national consensus, and is completely biased and even partners with the occupation in its crimes against our people."
Badran added that "this announcement comes at an important time, as our people are being subjected to a war of extermination, especially in the Gaza Strip," noting that the official statement signed by the factions is clear in its content, and is not what has been published and circulated since yesterday, Monday.
Badran said that those gathered in Beijing "saluted our Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip, for their steadfastness and perseverance, and expressed their appreciation for the Palestinian resistance that is exercising our natural right to confront the occupation."
The Hamas leader explained that "the Palestinian demands related to ending the war and the barbaric aggression were agreed upon, which are: a ceasefire, a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, relief, and reconstruction."
He pointed out that "the most important points of agreement were on forming a Palestinian national consensus government to manage the affairs of our people in Gaza and the West Bank, supervise reconstruction, and prepare the conditions for elections. This was the position Hamas called for and presented since the first weeks of the battle."
During the signing of the agreement
The head of the National Relations Office in the Hamas movement stressed that "this solution, from our point of view, represents the best and most appropriate national solution for the Palestinian situation after the war, and this places an impregnable barrier against all regional and international interventions that seek to impose facts against the interests of our people in managing Palestinian affairs after the war."
Badran stated that "those gathered in Beijing stressed the need to confront the occupation's conspiracies and its ongoing violations in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the attempts to Judaize the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem, and to emphasize full support for the male and female prisoners in the enemy's prisons, which are subjected to brutality and prison conditions that do not meet the minimum human rights."
Earlier, 14 Palestinian factions announced their agreement to reach a "comprehensive national unity" that includes all forces within the framework of the PLO, and to form an interim national consensus government, at the conclusion of a national meeting held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, which lasted for two days.
