Reuters reported, citing Spanish authorities, that the Spanish Civil Guard seized four tons of cocaine found in the port of Barcelona as part of the fight against a criminal gang.
In 2023, Spanish police began investigating a company that transported rice containers from Paraguay to Barcelona. During another search, Spanish law enforcement officers found the drugs.
Spanish authorities said it was the largest cocaine shipment ever found in the port of Barcelona. Ten members of the criminal gang were arrested during the operation.
Also as part of the investigation, Paraguayan police intercepted a drug shipment where 3.3 tons of cocaine were found.
Last March, another 2.1 tons of drugs were seized in Britain.
