Former US officials: US complicity in Gaza killings undeniable

Twelve former US government officials who resigned over US support for Israel's war in the Gaza Strip accused President Joe Biden's administration on Tuesday of "undeniable complicity" in the killing of Palestinians in the Strip.

In a joint statement, the former officials said the administration was violating U.S. laws by supporting Israel and creating loopholes to continue shipping weapons to its ally. The White House and State Department had no immediate comment on the statement, according to Reuters.

International criticism is mounting of Israel's approach to Gaza and of US military and diplomatic support for its ally in a war that has so far killed nearly 38,000 people and created an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.

The resignation of the US officials reflects some opposition within the government regarding its support for Israel, while Washington is calling in the media for the protection of civilians in Gaza, and calling on Israel to improve the delivery of aid.

Signatories to the joint statement included former members of the Departments of State, Education, Interior, the White House and the Army.

Since October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with absolute American support, leaving about 125,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, which has put Tel Aviv in international isolation and led to its being prosecuted before the International Court of Justice.

Israel continues its war despite two UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate halt, and orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of Rafah, take measures to prevent acts of "genocide", and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
