Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country's development of new equations in its foreign policies has become an urgent need rather than a choice, in light of the conflict between the major poles and the rapid change in the balance of power.
Erdogan added in a speech he delivered after the Turkish government meeting today: "At a time when our region is on a hot plate and a fire is constantly raging, establishing new equations in foreign policy for Turkey is a need, more than a choice."
"Given its geographical, human, economic and historical ties, Turkey cannot be lumped into one bloc," he added, "We now live in a region where we open our eyes every morning to a new disaster and crisis.
He added: "As long as Israel continues its policy of massacres , occupation and genocide in Gaza and the Palestinian territories, our position towards it will not change."
He stressed that "the Turkish people and government stand proudly by Palestine, even if the oppressors who feed on blood, tears and occupation are disturbed."
Erdogan praised the heroism and courage of the Palestinians who are defending their land, stressing the "need to pressure the current Israeli administration to stop the massacres it is committing in Gaza."
He continued: "We are not a country that turns its back on the East for the sake of the West or turns its back on the West for the sake of the East. Both are important to us. We attach great importance to increasing the number of our friends and reducing the number of our enemies."
In his speech, Erdogan touched on Turkey's relationship with its Western allies, saying: "The weapons that our Western allies set a thousand conditions for selling to us, as you can see, appear in the hideouts of separatist terrorist organizations."
He continued, "We hope that everyone knows that the more we cooperate in the region , the less risks the region faces."
He stressed that the Turkish government feels the economic crisis that the citizen is experiencing and seeks to solve it, stressing that Turkey is wide open to any investment that would add value to the country's economy.
He concluded that inflation in Turkey began to decline as of last month and the government did not and will not allow its disastrous consequences to be on the shoulders of citizens.
