Egypt : The appearance of the largest shark species in Hurghada raises panic

Marine workers in Marsa Alam, in the far east of Egypt, spotted a whale shark without teeth, which caused panic among citizens.

Hassan El-Tayeb, founder of the Marine Rescue and Marine Environment Conservation Association in Hurghada, said: The whale shark is more than 70 years old, and appeared about 60 million years ago. It is one of the largest shark species, and is classified as a cartilaginous fish. It mainly depends on all microscopic organisms and plankton in its diet, which cannot be seen with the naked eye.
The whale shark appears in certain areas, so there are several instructions for dealing with this creature in order to provide a suitable environment for it. Its length is about 13 meters, and its weight sometimes reaches 21 tons.
