Due to the shortage of fuel and medical supplies, the operating rooms at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital have stopped working

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip, confirmed today, Saturday, the continued shortage of fuel and medical supplies, and warned of the seriousness of the matter and the resulting threat to the lives of many of those injured as a result of the Israeli war that has been ongoing since last October.

Hospital spokesman Khalil Al-Daqran said the severe shortage of medical supplies, medicines and fuel had forced the surgical operating rooms to stop working. He added that this was a "death sentence for hundreds of wounded and sick people," noting that there were a large number of wounded who needed surgery.

He explained that the doctors at the hospital cannot perform operations on them due to the lack of anesthesia materials and medical tools, in addition to the lack of sufficient operating rooms. He warned that the suspension of operating rooms will lead to the death of a large number of the injured, noting that a number of them have already been martyred inside the hospital in the past period for the same reasons.

He explained that at the present time they are forced to receive patients and the injured at the entrances of the emergency department, because the hospital is unable to provide the necessary health services to the injured and the sick due to the lack of beds, as "the number of patients and the injured exceeds the hospital's capacity by four times."

In the same context, Al-Daqran expressed his concern about the interruption of the electric generators that the hospital currently relies on, and he continued that this "will lead to great and real dangers to all departments, especially intensive care," indicating that "Al-Aqsa Martyrs" and all hospitals in the Gaza Strip "are operating partially in very harsh conditions."

The hospital spokesman stressed the need for urgent intervention by the international community and humanitarian organizations "to supply hospitals with sufficient quantities of fuel and medical supplies, and to restart hospitals that have been put out of service, to relieve pressure on those operating, and to save the lives of patients and the wounded."

Since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7, the Israeli occupation has targeted the health system in the Strip, and put most hospitals out of service. According to previous statistics from the government media office in Gaza, the Israeli bombing has put 34 hospitals, 68 health centers, and 162 health institutions out of service.

The war waged by the Israeli occupation forces since October 7 on Gaza has resulted in more than 128,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amidst massive destruction and deadly famine.
