American scientists have proven that butter raises the level of harmful cholesterol in the blood and causes diabetes and stroke, and they advise switching to vegetable butter to prevent these diseases.
Commenting on this, Russian nutritionist and psychologist Dr. Lydia Ionova points out that the issue is not related to one specific product, but rather to the components of a person’s diet, but butter does not actually have many benefits.
“The problem is not the little piece of butter, but the saturated fats in the butter. Together, these fats play a big role. The structure of vegetable oils (sunflower, olive, walnut) is different, and they contain polyunsaturated fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6. Their effect on our bodies is different. Saturated acids are the fats in the body, while the body does not produce polyunsaturated acids itself, but gets them from foods. Yes, these are all fats, but they are completely different and work differently in the body.”
But sometimes butter is mandatory to eat, the expert points out.
“Pregnant women should eat butter in moderation, as it contains fat-soluble vitamins,” she says.
According to her, the danger of butter lies in its high content of saturated fats, which are found in the diet of some people and stimulate various diseases.
For her part, Dr. Olga Chukhacheva, an endocrinologist and nutritionist, points out that to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, everyone should consume saturated fats found in animal products with caution, regardless of their health condition.
