Diarrhea infections continue in some townships in Yangon, and yesterday, July 9, there were 64 new patients infected with diarrhea, the Health Ministry of the Military Council announced.
The number of people hospitalized due to diarrhea is increasing daily, reaching 231 in the four days from July 6 to 9.
The Ministry of Health of the Military Council has said that it is trying to control the disease, and that 130 people who contracted diarrhea have been discharged from the hospital.
At present, Yangon Division's In townships such as Dop, street stalls that sell food have been forced to close until today, and diarrhea education warnings are being announced through loudspeakers in the neighborhoods, a resident said.
"Street shops have not yet opened. In the markets, they also check in groups. They also chlorinate the water. Yangon is densely populated, so it's easy to get infected. The Joe White water that is being given now is mixed with sewage pipes, so that water cannot be clean."
The mass infection of dysentery started in the beginning of July in Thataketa and Dope townships.
During the first week of July when dysentery started, there were five deaths due to dysentery, residents of Yangon said. But the military council said through the state media that there were no deaths due to dysentery.
