Five people were killed when a car bomb exploded in a crowded cafe in Mogadishu, local media reported, citing police.
In statements to the official media, police spokesman Abdel Fattah Aden Hassan said: "Initial police reports indicate that five people were killed and about 20 others were injured."
Somali National Television gave a similar toll after a powerful explosion rocked a popular cafe in central Mogadishu on Sunday evening, according to Agence France-Presse.
The cafe was packed with people watching the Euro 2024 soccer final, local media reported, with images of a huge fireball and plumes of smoke rising into the sky from the explosion. Police and ambulances rushed to the scene.
Several local media outlets reported that the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber or a car bomb, but this information could not be immediately verified. There has been no comment from the Somali authorities so far.
