The 128th Reinforced Brigade of the General Command Forces in Libya announced the arrest of a gang smuggling weapons across the borders with neighboring countries in the Temsa region in the south of the country.
A statement issued by the brigade at dawn today, Sunday, explained that the gang consists of 12 people holding Sudanese and Chadian nationalities, and all the weapons and ammunition in their possession were confiscated during the operation that was carried out last Thursday evening.
The statement added that the operation was carried out by the 77th Combat Company after several days of investigation and monitoring operations, under the supervision of the commander of the 128th Reinforced Brigade, Brigadier General Hassan Mutawaq Al-Zadmah.
It is worth noting that last November, African experts indicated that small arms and light weapons leaking from Libya had reached Nigeria and were being sold like rice, which contributed to the increase in bandit activity, according to the African Defense Forum magazine issued by the US Africa Command (AFRICOM).
