Sotheby's has decided to put up for auction the shirt worn by Diego Armando Maradona, the legend of the Argentine national team, in the 1986 World Cup semi-final.
Maradona shone in the semi-final match and led his country to a 2-0 victory over Belgium and reach the final match, after scoring both goals in the match. At the end of the match, the Argentine star exchanged his shirt with the Belgian goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff.
Maradona wrote a dedication to the Belgian goalkeeper on the shirt, which read: "To the great Jean-Marie, with all my love," so Faff decided to display the shirt to the public in his private museum, which he opened in July 2023.
According to the report published by the English newspaper "Daily Mail", the value of Maradona's shirt may reach more than one million euros.
It is noteworthy that Maradona's shirt in the famous Argentina-England match was put up for sale at a public auction in May 2022, for $9.3 million, making it the most valuable shirt in football history.
