Paris is hosting troops from "several foreign countries" to help secure the Olympic Games, which the French capital will host from July 26 to August 11, according to the French news agency, citing the Ministry of Defense.

Among the forces scheduled to be present in Paris, the Qatari security forces will participate in the security coverage of the Paris Olympics through the participation of officers in foot patrols, the national operations center, cavalry, drones, explosives disposal, cyber security analysts, explosives detection dogs, counter-terrorism, and riot control.

Qatari security forces will also participate in managing civil security for international sporting events, providing means for vehicle inspection, first aid, and search and rescue operations.

According to the French Ministry of Defense, this practice is common, and it noted that French soldiers participated in ensuring security for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in late 2022.

The UAE is also set to send the UAE Police Support Team, which has completed special training and will later leave to participate with its counterparts from international police teams to help secure the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The team includes female elements from the UAE Ministry of Interior, and elements of qualified and trained cadres representing specialized units from all police sectors, police dog units (K9), security support teams, and others.

More than 30,000 police officers will provide security daily during the Paris Olympics, 24KZ reported.

63,000 law enforcement officers and military personnel will be sent to the opening ceremony of the World Championship.

The athletes' parade on opening day is expected to take place outdoors, and delegations will travel on separate boats along the River Seine.

Team ships have also been equipped with cameras for security purposes. In addition, the sale of shock weapons and any explosives will be restricted during the competition, noting that the French capital plans to host more than 10,000 athletes and 300,000 spectators.

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal had raised the security alert to the highest level since last March after the attack on the concert hall in Moscow.

"Given the Islamic State group's claim of responsibility for the attack and the threats that are casting a shadow over our country, we have decided to raise the security alert to the highest level," he said via the X platform after a meeting of the Defense Council at the Elysee Palace.

The French Prime Minister's Office said that "claiming responsibility for the Moscow attack came from the Islamic State in Khorasan. This organization threatens France and is involved in several recently foiled attack plans in several European countries, including Germany and France."

The attack, which took place last March at the Crocus City Hall near Moscow, killed 143 people.
