Our correspondent reported today, Monday, that the Israeli army released 50 Palestinian prisoners from east of Al-Qarara in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
Video scenes showed a number of prisoners in poor health and physical condition following their release this morning after months of detention in Israeli prisons.
The government media office in Gaza said, “The file of detainees held by the occupation represents an example of the criminality practiced by the occupation,” noting that “the occupation wants to improve its image internationally after the release of the director of Al-Shifa Hospital, but it cannot prove its claims against the health system in the Gaza Strip.”
Today, Monday, the Israeli army released the director of the Shifa Medical Complex, Dr. Muhammad Abu Salamiya, who had been detained since last November.
Dr. Abu Salmiya said in his first statement after his release that “the prison situation is tragic and very difficult, and the old and new prisoners are going through the worst conditions since the Nakba of 1948 until now, as they suffer from a shortage of food and water and there is physical humiliation, calling for a decisive word from the resistance and the Arab peoples for the freedom of the prisoners.”
A video clip showed touching moments of one of the prisoners hugging his children after his release.
One of the prisoners from the Gaza Strip narrated the details of the brutal torture he was subjected to during his months-long detention by the Israeli forces, noting that they "arrested him thinking he was Yahya Sinwar."
