A Ukrainian police officer set fire to two power transformers in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine, amid the country's energy problems, the Ukrainian newspaper Strana reported, citing an informed source.
According to the newspaper, "a police officer with the rank of corporal set fire to two transformers, one in the village of Kocherzhentsy and the other in the village of Maksimovka, which supplied electricity to the aforementioned villages."
The newspaper pointed out that the perpetrator was arrested a few hours after the crime occurred and has now been handed over to the State Security Service.
She pointed out that the accused policeman faces a prison sentence of up to 10 years.
In a related context, British expert Alexander Mercuris said earlier that the energy system in Ukraine is on the verge of collapse and that Ukrainian officials have acknowledged that they will not be able to provide citizens with electricity.
The Russian Armed Forces began attacking Ukrainian infrastructure on October 10, 2022, two days after the Ukrainian terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, and Russian strikes have since targeted energy facilities, the defense industry, military command and communications throughout Ukraine.
It is noteworthy that the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, confirmed on more than one occasion that the Russian army does not attack residential buildings and civilian institutions.
