iPhone users are anticipating Apple's new iOS update, expected to be released in a few weeks, as more details emerge about the "biggest update yet," according to reports.
Apple announced the new update at the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, and it's expected to be available on devices in mid-September.
The American company is promoting the integration of artificial intelligence with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, in what is called “Apple Intelligence,” as the main feature of the update that will bring a lot of change to the operating system, including new and improved Siri capabilities, the ability to create custom emojis, and more.
iOS 18 will also enable a range of new features, such as smart writing tools, custom image creation, and improved privacy protection.
In this regard, the Daily Mail website published a list of the top 5 interesting features:
1. AI-powered Siri
Apple's new AI system will impact nearly every aspect of the operating system, including the digital assistant Siri.
“Thanks to the power of Apple’s intelligence, Siri takes a big step forward, becoming more contextually relevant,” Apple explained.
Users will be able to talk to Siri more naturally, thanks to new language understanding capabilities enhanced by artificial intelligence, in addition to providing the option to type instead of relying on voice commands.
Siri will have an "on-screen awareness" feature, which allows the digital assistant to access information on your phone, and complete tasks within and across apps.
2. Genmojis
Have you ever wished you could create your own emoji? With Apple's new "Genmoji" feature, now you can!
“Taking emoji to a whole new level, users can create original Genmoji to express themselves,” Apple said.
The feature allows users to create custom emojis using artificial intelligence. (All you have to do is type in a description of the emoji you want to create, and Genmoji will quickly generate it.)
3. Tap to Cash
The iOS update will also include a convenient new way to send cash to other iPhone users.
The new feature allows users to send and receive money by simply holding two iPhones close together. This will simplify digital payments by eliminating the need to share phone numbers or email addresses to make a transaction.
The feature will be available to iPhone users running iOS 18, and Apple Watch users running WatchOS 11.
4. Hidden Apps
iOS 18 update will provide the ability to hide or lock specific apps on phones.
Locked apps will still appear on the Home screen, but they can only be opened with Face ID. If someone gains access to your phone, they won't be able to access all of your private information.
But some users have expressed concerns about the feature's potential to encourage infidelity in relationships, even going so far as to describe it as a "cheater's paradise."
5. Chat integration with GPT
This update will include integration with Chat GPT, OpenAI's chatbot and virtual assistant.
Siri will be able to leverage Chat GPT to help answer questions. However, users will be asked for permission before sending any questions, documents, or images to the chatbot.
Chat GPT will also be available within Apple’s system-wide writing tools, helping users create written content on any topic. Apple will also introduce Compose, a Chat GPT-powered image generator.
Privacy enhancements and Chat GPT integration add to the allure.
