14 people lost in the Algerian desert, including 12 Syrians, killed

14 people, including 12 Syrians, were killed after getting lost in the Algerian desert near the border with Libya.

The "Ghauth Search and Rescue" association said on Monday that it had found the bodies of 12 Syrians, including two children, in the Balqbour area in the Algerian desert, before transferring the bodies to the morgue at Bordj Omar Idriss Hospital in Illizi province.

The association explained that the search teams found a Toyota car that had been missing since Tuesday, and next to it were 3 bodies belonging to the driver and his companion, both Algerians, and a third person, Syrian. Then they followed the footprints and found 11 bodies, all of which belonged to Syrians.

She confirmed that the cause of death was thirst, after they got lost in the desert in the harsh weather conditions there, while calling on the victims' families to contact and receive the bodies from Burj Omar Idris Hospital.

According to the association, the bodies of 5 of the victims belong to Syrians from Aleppo, while 3 belong to people from Raqqa Governorate, and the same number from Hasakah, while the remaining body belongs to a Syrian from Damascus.
