With 8.5 billion euros a German company concludes the largest arms deal in its history with the army

On Friday, the German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall received an order, the largest in its history, worth 8.5 billion euros, at a time when European governments are moving to increase military spending against the backdrop of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Rheinmetall said in a statement that it had signed a contract with the German army to supply artillery ammunition worth up to 8.5 billion euros. She added: "The current contract has been significantly expanded, and the main goal is to replenish the existing stocks of the German army and its allies, and to provide support to Ukraine in its defense campaign."

According to a presentation it presented to its investors, the company aims to achieve greater growth in the coming years due to the war in Ukraine and the increase in defense budgets in Western countries. The German company's annual sales, which supply weapons to Israel, are expected to grow by a fifth until 2026.

Rheinmetall was founded in 1889 and produces tanks, anti-aircraft guns, ammunition and military vehicles. It is currently working on establishing new production lines to keep pace with Ukraine's increasing demand for weapons and ammunition following the war with Russia.
