Opta's supercomputer, which specializes in numbers and statistics, revealed its predictions for the team that will win the 2024 European Nations Cup title, before the start of the round of 16 matches of the competition.
Opta conducted 10,000 computer simulations, based on the strengths and weaknesses of each team, according to its performance in the group stage and its overall level historically, in addition to each team’s path towards the final.
This concluded that the England national team is the first candidate to win the Euro 2024 title, despite the bad impression left by coach Gareth Southgate’s team in the third group, in which it achieved one victory and scored only two goals from three matches.
According to statistics, England has a 19.12 percent chance of winning its first major tournament since 1966, when it won the World Cup, noting that the Three Lions have never won the European Cup.
The host team, Germany, came in second place on the list of candidates with a percentage of 16.09 percent, noting that it performed well in the group stage, collecting seven points.
Spain, the only team to win all three of their group matches at Euro 2024, came in third with 15.41 percent.
France and Portugal, which fell on the same side of the draw for the Euro 2024 final, made up the rest of the top five places on the list of candidates, according to Opta.
