UNRWA: The children of Palestine are paying a heavy price
-
The United Nations Relief and Works Organization for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that the children of Gaza are paying a heavy price due to the Israeli authorities imposing additional restrictions on humanitarian aid access to the Strip.

UNRWA: More than 330,000 tons of waste have accumulated in all areas of Gaza, posing catastrophic risks.
Today, Friday, the organization published a tweet on the “X” platform in which it indicated that “in 2023, more than 3,000 permits were denied or delayed for Palestinian children to leave the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, to receive medical treatment.”

She added: "Since the beginning of the war, the Israeli authorities have imposed additional restrictions on humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip, and children are once again paying a heavy price."

On Friday, medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported that a child died due to “famine and drought, which brings the number of malnutrition victims in the Strip to 40 people.”

Yesterday, Thursday, UNRWA said that more than 330,000 tons of waste had accumulated in all areas of the Gaza Strip, posing catastrophic environmental and health risks, and that children in Gaza searched through garbage daily.

The agency stressed that "unhindered access to humanitarian aid is critical to restoring humanitarian living conditions in the Strip."

In early May,  the Israeli army took control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah  border crossing, which led to the cessation of the flow of aid to the Strip and the travel of the wounded and sick abroad to receive treatment, and exacerbated the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, specifically in the north, after citizens exhausted their remaining supplies. Food in light of the scarcity of aid, according to Wafa Agency.
