Referee Clement Turban will officiate the opening match of the European Cup, which will bring together host Germany and Scotland in Munich the day after tomorrow, Friday, according to what the European Union (UEFA) announced on Wednesday.

The 42-year-old French referee previously officiated five matches during the World Cup in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022, including Brazil’s match against South Korea (4-1) in the 16-final of the first World Cup in the Arab world.

Turpan was also assigned the task of managing four group stage matches in the 2016 and 2020 European Cup finals, noting that the last edition of the continental championship was held a year later due to the repercussions of the Corona virus.

At the level of European competitions, Turban led two years ago the Champions League final between Real Madrid of Spain and Liverpool of England in Paris (1-0), in addition to the first leg of this season’s semi-final between Bayern Munich of Germany and Real Madrid, which ended in a 2-2 draw in Munich. .
