The US Navy tests a manta ray submarine drone

Google Maps users studying space images of the Earth sent by satellites noticed a strange marine object at a US naval base in California.

The object resembles a new naval drone that was previously announced as the “Manta Ray” unmanned submarine.

The Turkish newspaper Hurriet said that the new US Navy drone is still under development and has been registered at the US Port Hueneme Naval Base.

The idea of the new sea drone is based on imitating stingrays, also known as manta rays. That is why the drone was named "Manta Ray". The shape of the drone resembles this sea creature. Just like this creature, the "Manta Ray" can anchor itself to the seabed and conduct sonar surveillance for a long time.

It is worth noting that the Manta Ray is a large vessel, several times larger than a fishing vessel. However, according to the Pentagon, it will not be practical on the surface, because the main task of the sea drone is to dive into the sea, reach its bottom, turn on a large number of sensors and enter a kind of hibernation, and it can remain in this state for up to three months.
