The resistance destroys 500 Israeli armored vehicles, and the occupation confirms its survival in the Philadelphia axis

Hebrew media reported that the occupation army intends to remain in the Philadelphia axis on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt for a few more months, despite several reports confirming that hundreds of army armored vehicles have been damaged since the start of the war on October 7, in addition to other losses.

The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth claimed on Friday, “During the Rafah operation that has been ongoing for eight weeks, the Israeli army found 25 entrances to tunnels along Philadelphia Road, which extends about 15 kilometers from the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood on the waterfront in the far south of the Gaza Strip, to the border with Israel.” "Near kibbutz (settlement) Kerem Shalom."

The newspaper added: "It will take longer to control and certainly destroy the 25 tunnels found so far and determine the location of the rest of the tunnels."

"This will continue for at least another six months, and will require our permanent presence on the Philadelphi Road, because it is a slow and complex operation," an Israeli military official was quoted as saying.

The official pointed out that this requires "permanent positions for the Israeli army and a permanent presence, and launching raids on the nearby neighborhoods of Rafah, in order to deepen the achievements of harming Hamas," he claimed.

The newspaper pointed out that "the end of the operation in Rafah is approaching," claiming that "the Israeli army is close to defeating the Rafah Brigade of the Hamas movement."

500 military vehicles were damaged

On the other hand, Maariv newspaper said that more than 500 Israeli armored vehicles had been damaged in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, noting that “dozens of these military vehicles were completely out of service and removed from the Israeli army.”

Since the beginning of the war, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, and other Palestinian factions have published hundreds of video clips showing Israeli vehicles being targeted with local shells during their incursions into Palestinian cities and neighborhoods in Gaza since the beginning of the war.

The Hebrew newspaper indicated that "the Israeli army established two logistical centers inside the Gaza Strip in order to repair military vehicles damaged by attacks by Palestinian militants."

She pointed out that the soldiers who bring these vehicles are "physically and psychologically exhausted" after the losses they suffered up close, warning that "if we call them to occupy southern Lebanon, they will be there, but they will not be in their best condition."

She added: "In recent months, the Israeli army has purchased more weapons than it has purchased over the years, and still, despite the armament economy imposed on the forces, consumption is high."

The newspaper revealed that "since the beginning of the war, the Israeli army has marked the weapons stockpile allocated for the war in Lebanon, which should not be touched, and this stockpile has been preserved and increased."

The newspaper said: “Therefore, when the Prime Minister creates an unnecessary crisis with the United States over the supply of weapons, he fully understands the meaning: the crisis aims to provide him with an excuse and another blame for why he did not initiate a (military) campaign in Lebanon.”

On June 16, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly complained about the delay in US arms shipments after he tried to resolve the crisis behind closed doors, to no avail, as he put it.

The United States suspended a shipment of 2,000-pound and 500-pound heavy bombs to Israel in May, citing concerns about the impact they could have in densely populated areas. But Washington has already provided Tel Aviv with unstinting military, intelligence and diplomatic support since the start of its devastating war on Gaza, and is set to deliver billions of dollars worth of weapons in the coming months.

The war on Gaza since October 7 has resulted in more than 124,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of dozens of children.
