Lee Yong-zin said during an event held at the North Korean Embassy in Moscow: “Today a historic meeting was held in every sense of the word, and talks took place between the leaders of our two countries. As a result of this meeting, a new and strong agreement was born between the two countries, and Comrade Kim Jong-un announced today the official start.” For the alliance relations between the two countries, he stressed that the government and party of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, in light of the current difficult international situation, will strengthen strategic communication with the Russian Federation, and will firmly and unconditionally support all principles and political directions of the Russian leadership.
He added: "We are very happy with the achievements achieved during President Putin's current visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The relationship between the two countries, which has withstood severe adversity, now looks to the future with a hundred-year plan thanks to the strategic determination and leadership of the leaders of the two countries."
Today, President Putin held lengthy talks with Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which culminated in the signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement that takes into account the provision of assistance in the event that one of its parties is exposed to aggression.
Commenting on this agreement, Putin said: “Korean friends take an objective and balanced position on the issue of the Ukrainian settlement, and they understand the real causes of the crisis,” stressing that “such a position on the part of the Korean leadership is another clear confirmation of an independent, sovereign approach.”
For his part, the DPRK leader referred, at the beginning of his meeting with President Putin, to Russia's role in maintaining the strategic balance in the world, and expressed his full support for the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
President Putin arrived in Pyongyang late last night, however, he was personally received by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the airport.
