The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, said he was concerned that the Rohingya had been blocked from fighting in Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State.

In 2017, the military council also cleared the area in Rakhine state, and as a result of that operation, around one million Rohingya had to flee to Bangladesh.
