The Arab League expressed its dissatisfaction with the withdrawal of Argentine President Javier Mele from attending a meeting with the Council of Ambassadors of the Arab and Islamic Groups that was scheduled in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, "under the pretext of the presence of the Chargé d'Affaires of the Palestinian Embassy in the audience."

This came in a statement by the General Secretariat of the Arab League, regarding the position of Milley, who had previously announced upon his arrival in Tel Aviv on a visit last February, his decision to move his country’s embassy to Jerusalem.

The university stated in the statement that it was “following with great dismay and astonishment the Argentine President’s withdrawal at the last minute from attending a meeting he was scheduled to attend on Friday with the Council of Ambassadors of the Arab and Islamic Groups in the Argentine capital, under the pretext of the presence of the Chargé d’Affairs of the Palestinian Embassy in the audience.”

She stressed that "such behavior reflects a hostile and unjustified position not only towards the State of Palestine, but also towards the Arab group."

She expressed "regret that such an undiplomatic and unacceptable stance occurred from the head of a country for which the Arabs have great respect for its previous positive positions on the Palestinian issue."

She explained, "Those positions have been reversed, unfortunately, at the hands of the current political administration."

She revealed that "we had previously coordinated with the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the attendance list, emphasizing that there is no way to exclude the representative of the Palestinian state accredited to the Argentine authorities from any group meetings of the Arab and Islamic groups, as required by established diplomatic norms."

The General Secretariat of the Arab League expressed “its hope that the State of Argentina will review its recent positions on the Palestinian issue (..) out of concern for extended relations with the Arab world and for mutual political and economic interests between the two sides.”

The Arab League described Argentina's positions as "involving blatant bias towards the occupation and standing on the wrong side of history."

In recent years, the Palestinian Authority and Arab and Islamic countries have repeatedly called on countries to refrain from moving their embassies to Jerusalem.
