Anna Popova, head of the Russian Federal Authority for Consumer Rights Protection "Rospotrebnadzor", expressed her happiness at the exit of McDonald's restaurants from the Russian market.

In a symposium on the sidelines of the Petersburg International Economic Forum, Popova said: “We are currently working with the Vkusno i Tochka restaurant chain, which replaced McDonald’s in Russia, to provide oversight and ensure healthy, high-quality nutrition, especially for the youth group.”

She added: "We really hope that this new chain (Vkusno i tochka) will be better than the previous one. Perhaps there was no person happier than me when I left the previous company (McDonald's)."

Popova pointed out that “Rospotrebnadzor” is cooperating with experts and specialists from “Vkusno i Tochka” to monitor the amazing volume of food services provided by this chain, especially for the youth group, and so that visitors to this chain’s restaurants get healthy and useful food in the places they used to visit.

The McDonald's chain of fast-casual restaurants announced the cessation of its operations in Russia on March 14, due to the special Russian military operation in Ukraine. The network justified its decision by the emergence of “logistical and technical difficulties” in the operation of its restaurants.

The 27th edition of the Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held between June 5 and 8. The forum is an effective platform for exchanging opinions and experiences between policymakers, officials and representatives of the business sector from various countries of the world. The event discusses the main economic issues and challenges facing Russia, emerging markets and the world as a whole.
