Saudi Arabia welcomed the Armenian government's decision to recognize the State of Palestine, stressing that this decision is an important step that supports the process of establishing a Palestinian state.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday, “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomes the decision of the Republic of Armenia to recognize the State of Palestine, stressing that this decision is an important step that supports the path of establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

The Ministry renewed "the Kingdom's call to the international community, especially the permanent members of the Security Council that have not recognized the State of Palestine, to move forward towards recognizing the Palestinian state in a way that supports the two-state solution and enhances international peace and security."

In turn, the Palestinian presidency welcomed, earlier today, the decision of the Republic of Armenia to recognize the State of Palestine as an independent and sovereign state, and expressed “great appreciation for this courageous and important decision,” which is considered “an important step towards strengthening bilateral relations and achieving peace and stability in the region.”
