The CAF said in a statement published on its official account on the X platform: “The reports about the 2025 African Cup of Nations are incorrect.”
The statement indicated that the Executive Committee of the African Union will meet to decide on the dates of the African Cup of Nations next year, 2025.
He concluded, "CAF will then issue an official statement on this issue."
Lux September, Director of Information at the Confederation of African Football, said through his account that “CAF” has not yet decided the date for holding the continental championship.
He added: “Discussions are underway with various parties to find common ground on this issue, and the CAF Executive Office will meet soon to discuss the matter and make a decision.”
This came after the famous French newspaper L'Equipe published a statement attributed to Veron Omba, Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football, in which he confirmed that the Confederation had decided to postpone the African Cup of Nations to early 2026, due to a scheduling conflict with the first edition of the Club World Cup, which will be held for the first time. Once with the participation of 32 teams in the summer of next year in the United States of America.
