The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday the destruction of 36 drones launched by Ukraine last night in several regions of southwestern Russia, including Kursk and Lipetsk.
The ministry said in a statement via Telegram that air defenses destroyed 15 drones over the Kursk region bordering Ukraine, and 9 drones over the Lipetsk region, several kilometers south of Moscow.
The statement also said that air defenses destroyed four aircraft over the Voronezh region, four over Bryansk in southwestern Russia, two over Oryol and two over Belgorod. The governors of Lipetsk and Bryansk said on their Telegram channels that there were no casualties or serious damage as a result of the attacks.
Kyiv says the attacks on Russian military, transport and energy infrastructure are in retaliation for Moscow's attacks on Ukrainian territory since the start of the Russian offensive in 2022.
On Saturday, Ukrainian authorities announced the killing of 11 people in Russian strikes on a city in the south of the country and villages in the Donetsk region.
