Some media reported that Microsoft launched a layoff campaign that affected hundreds of its employees.

According to available information, the layoffs mainly affected employees of the Mixed Reality department, who worked on developing the HoloLens 2 glasses, and also affected hundreds of developers responsible for Microsoft's Azure cloud service.

A company official told The Verge that the “restructuring” affected the employees of the company’s mixed reality department, but without specifying the number of laid-off employees.

At the beginning of 2023, Microsoft carried out a layoff campaign that affected more than 10,000 of its employees, and in mid-July last year it also conducted another layoff campaign that affected approximately 300 employees.

At the end of January this year, Microsoft announced the layoff of 1,900 employees, about half of whom were from the Activision Blizzard division, and last May it closed four studios at once, including a studio responsible for developing Hi-Fi Rush.
