The newspaper "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" reported that the Russian army units participating in the special military operation began receiving batches of "upir" combat drones.
Regarding the matter, an expert in the institution that produces these drones said: “Thanks to the support we received, we began serial production of UPIR drones, and delivered batches of these drones to the army units participating in the special military operation.”
He added: "We have also established an educational center to qualify specialists in the field of drones, and trainees in the center will acquire the engineering and medical skills necessary to work in special military operation areas."
In May 2023, Russia began testing “upir” drones during a special military operation, where they succeeded in destroying many enemy targets. Experts indicated that these drones can travel distances of up to 12 km and fly at a speed of 180 km/hour.
These aircraft are equipped with various combat payloads, including RPG-7 anti-armor shells and RKG-3M anti-tank shells, in addition to high-explosive devices, used to destroy enemy forces and positions.
