Dr. Vladimir Stepanov, a specialist in genitourinary diseases, announced that there are male diseases that require emergency surgical treatment, and on the contrary, they can lead to serious consequences, including infertility.
In an interview with Gazeta.Ru, the specialist points out that among these diseases are:
- Testicular torsion is a common condition among adolescents and adults. It is associated with abnormal twisting of the spermatic cord and poor blood circulation in the testicle. The causes of the disease are many - various injuries to the scrotum, sudden movements, congenital malformations of the genitals, etc. The disease causes severe pain in the testicle, which can spread to the groin and lower abdomen. Swelling and redness of the hardened testicle can be observed. But after a while the acute pain goes away, but this is a deceptive condition because poor blood flow to the testicle can lead to tissue necrosis in the testicle, which then requires its complete removal. Therefore, to preserve the testicle and its reproductive function, it is necessary to immediately consult a doctor.
- Paraphimosis (posterior foreskin suffocation) . This condition occurs when the foreskin is displaced behind the head of the penis, and it is impossible to return it to the correct position without surgery. This is a very dangerous condition because it causes swelling of the head due to blood flow, accompanied by severe pain, especially when urinating. Its color also changes from blue to black, which indicates an acute inflammatory process and the beginning of tissue necrosis.
- Kidney prolapse . This usually occurs on the right side, where the kidney descends from its normal position, and sometimes into the pelvis. The causes of this condition are different - falling from a height, rupture of the ligaments that connect the kidneys to neighboring organs, infections affecting the tissues that “support” the kidneys, sudden weight loss, and severe physical stress. As well as annoying pain in the lower back that appears during active walking, severe weakness and a sharp drop in blood pressure, poor blood flow and urinary function of the kidneys, the development of concomitant diseases, such as chronic renal failure - and other complications resulting from kidney prolapse. This condition is currently treated using modern endoscopic techniques, which help prevent severe disease and improve the patient's condition.
