Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen said on Thursday that if electricity is cut off for hours in Israel (in the event of an escalation in clashes with Hezbollah), the electricity will be cut off for months in Lebanon.
Eli Cohen said in his statements: “The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Electricity Company, the Electricity Authority, and the NGA Company, in cooperation with the security forces and the Israeli Defense Forces, are working to ensure the full protection of the strategic energy facilities of the State of Israel.”
Cohen added: “At the same time, we are preparing for any scenario. We are holding discussions and assessing the situation, and we have spent billions of shekels on ensuring regular energy supplies for all Israeli citizens. In recent months, we have increased the stock and purchased a lot of equipment in order to have backup copies.” He added: “The State of Israel has the ability to generate electricity from a large variety of sources. We have gas platforms, we have diesel fuel reserves, we have huge coal reserves, and we also generate electricity from renewable energy.”
The Israeli Minister of Energy continued: “It is important to emphasize that our reserves of energy sources are spread in secret and protected places, and there are many other measures that we have taken to ensure regular energy supplies, which cannot be detailed,” adding: “The possibility of a power outage scenario occurring for several years Very low days.
Cohen continued: “In addition, I would like to make clear to our enemies that if the electricity is cut off for hours in Israel, the electricity will be cut off for months in Lebanon.”
Meanwhile, Shaul Goldstein, head of the Electric Power Administration in Israel, warned of a “not good situation in Israel,” and that Hezbollah “is capable of bringing down the Israeli electricity grid easily.”
This comes after Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech: “The threat of war over the course of 8 months does not frighten us, and there are people who evaluate this possibility as serious. We, as the resistance, have prepared ourselves for the worst days and the enemy knows what awaits him, and therefore "He remained a deterrent."
Nasrallah continued: “The enemy knows that no place in the entity will remain safe from our missiles and marches, and it is not random. We have a real and large bank of goals, and we have the ability to reach these goals in a way that shakes the foundations of the entity,” pointing out that “the enemy also knows that what awaits him at sea is The Mediterranean is very large, and all its coasts, ships and ships will be targeted.”
