CNN: Netanyahu’s plan for a new security system in Gaza is “nonsense,” and unless we end the occupation, we will not be safe

The former head of the Israeli General Security Service "Shin Bet" considered that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to establish a new security system in Gaza is complete "nonsense."

In an interview with CNN, Ammon Ayalon commented on Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to create a new security system in Gaza and create a new security reality for the Israelis, saying that this is "nonsense."

Ayalon pointed out that Netanyahu "knows the Palestinians, knows that they will continue to fight, and knows that they will not accept any Israeli leadership that does not grant them national freedom and the end of the occupation."

He added: “Unless we end the occupation, we will not have security, and unless we end this occupation, we will not have democracy. We should not enjoy democracy and we should not enjoy security. This is the end of the Zionist dream, because the Zionist dream is a state for Israel with a specific identity.” "Jewish democracy."

The former Shin Bet chief continued: “This piece of land is ours, but it is not ours alone. We have only two options: either divide it and preserve our identity, or not divide it and lose our identity and security as well.”

He explained, saying: “We have to understand that we Israelis have two blind spots, even today, by the way. What should we learn after October 7th? We chose perhaps the most horrific moment in our history... We must learn first and foremost that we will not be blessed.” With security as long as we do not end the occupation, this is what Hamas told us, and we should not have democracy as long as we do not end the occupation... Now, we refuse to see that... We see today, if you read the opinion polls, more than we have seen up until this moment. …This is an opportunity that our government does not see. It is possible that Yoav Gallant understands the matter but does not have the courage to say this matter because he must be elected.”

He added: “So, the political power of democracy is not in the hands of political leaders... Political power exists somewhere in the street,” continuing: “We, the people in the street, do not understand it... We understand it more and more... and this is why the demonstrations are important. But This is the reason behind the role that the international community plays, because the international community must understand... Yes, we must save ourselves from ourselves, but it is not a conflict between Israel and the Palestinians anymore but rather it has become a regional conflict that will create a huge impact on the international community .

He pointed outAmi Ayalon recalled that he previously told the Director of the General Security Service, Ronen Bar: “Look... politicians and political leaders tell you exactly what policies you should follow, but you have to tell them over and over again every day, in every meeting, that this policy will lead us to a wave of violence.” And he said to me: “Amon, this is exactly what I am telling them, but the prime minister does not listen to what?” I know why, because he prefers his political survival to the future of Israel. That is all.
