China Daily reported that construction operations have been completed at the Wenchang Space Airport located in Hainan Province, China.

According to the information provided by the newspaper, the construction work of the second service tower at the airport was completed last Thursday, and from the site where this tower is located, commercial space launches are supposed to be carried out, and the first launch of the Chinese Long March 12 two-stage missile will also be carried out from it. It works with oxygen and kerosene.

The newspaper pointed out that the aforementioned site at the airport, after the start of operation, will be the only site in China designed exclusively for commercial space launches, and the project was worked on by the China Aviation Science and Industry Corporation and the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).

There is also a missile launch site at Wenchang Space Airport, owned by the Chinese state. It was built in 2009 and began operating in 2016. It is considered the only site in China where technical conditions allow the launch of large Long March 7-a rockets. This also enables The site launches the Long March 8 missiles, in addition to the Chinese-made Long March 5 missiles, whose weight ranges between 859 and 879 tons.
